For people and families facing some of life’s hardest moments, Hospice South provides care, comfort and support when it matters most. As demand for these services continue to grow, Hospice South remains an increasingly vital part of Southland’s healthcare landscape.

Most of us know someone who has been cared for by Hospice South. A parent, a partner, a friend. The doctors, nurses, counsellors and social workers who show up at some of the toughest times in a family's life, in people's homes, in the inpatient unit, around the clock, at no cost to the patient or their family.

That level of care doesn't happen on government funding alone. Hospice South receives some government support, but a substantial portion of what it costs to operate must be raised from the community every single year. That's not a one-off challenge, it's an ongoing reality, and one that grows as our population ages and demand for palliative services increases.

Hospice South Fund

Your Gift

When you contribute to the Hospice South Endowment Fund, your gift is invested and generates a return. A portion of this income is distributed to Hospice South annually, while your original contribution remains intact and continues to grow. It is the difference between a single act of generosity and a lasting one.

Growth over time

This endowment will grow over time enabling a continuous income stream to support Hospice South now and into the future; strengthening its long term sustainability and ensuring compassionate care remains available to those who need it most.

The Southland Foundation is proud to partner with Hospice South on a dedicated endowment fund, a new and permanent way for Southlanders to invest in the future of this service. Hospice South has served this community for over three decades. What they do goes well beyond what most people realise until they need it, from specialist medical and nursing care to counselling, social work, spiritual support, and practical help for families and carers. It reaches people at home, in aged residential care, and in the inpatient unit. It is available around the clock, and it is free. As Hospice South Chief Executive Pete Thompson says: "Almost every family in our region has been touched by hospice in some way. This fund is a way for people to give back to a service that has been there for them or their loved ones, and to make sure it's there for generations to come."
